Supporting Housebound People

The Ulverscroft Foundation is very aware of the needs of housebound people who are often elderly and visually impaired.

It has helped libraries fund housebound services generally, provide transport to take readers to the library, and mobile libraries designed to take books, audio books and other reading materials to visually impaired and housebound readers in their own homes, or to retirement homes, sheltered accommodation and day centres.

These services provide more than just books and talking books, they provide an important social link with other people in the community.
